I’m a Cancer rising with an Aries sun. So my Aries flame often overshadows the emotional tides of my Cancer energy...

So I’ve thought a lot about how I wanted to introduce myself, and honestly…this just made the most sense. I’m going to do my own Q + A. And wait now, before y’all come for me, let me tell y’all why this makes sense! (not that it requires an explanation…but am I gonna give one anyway — YES)

Q + A is a format I’ve always used since I began journaling.

Whether I’m trying to collect my thoughts…make a decision…or brainstorm some creative project, I always start there.

For years it’s been the most effective way for me to gain clarity and understand how I feel + what I want. Soooo, I’m hoping it does the same for you in getting to know who I am. And If not…we got time.

Meet Tierra Latrice Tramble.

HOW OLD ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, AND WHAT DO YOU DO FOR WORK?

I’m 22 but I’ll be 23 at the end of this month. It’s my Jordan year. I’m from Cleveland, Ohio. Lived here all my life and I’m more than ready to make a move. Currently I work as the marketing associate for a coding bootcamp. I typically create all of their marketing materials, monitor engagement and interaction, and launch marketing campaigns through social media.

I’m also working as the digital experience strategist for the body: a home for love, an AMAZING nonprofit dedicated to the healing and wellness of black women who’ve experienced sexual trauma.

DID YOU GO TO SCHOOL, IF SO WHAT DID YOU STUDY?

I went to school at Kent State University.

Disgusting.

I’m kidding (kinda)…but I didn’t really enjoy that experience. However, I’m grateful for the moments and people that did have an impact on me.

I JUST got my degree in December so I’m very proud and happy it’s over with. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Digital Media Production.

WHAT DON’T MOST PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT YOU?

Most people don’t know that I’m very emotional. That’s not to be confused with sensitivity. Being emotional for me just means being extremely connected to the feelings I experience. Instead of shutting them out or running, I just feel them. My emotions are kind of apart of my nature.

I’m a Cancer rising with an Aries sun. So my Aries flame often overshadows my Cancer energy, meaning most people see the fire but are rarely aware of the water underneath all the passion.

WHY DID YOU START THIS Blog/journal?

I wanted a way to document my journey as well as my thoughts, and I really just wanted to write. One of my intentions this year was to bring clarity and truth into my art. Sharing this space of authenticity & vulnerability was just one way of doing that.

Plus, after graduating college the possibilities seemed endless, and it felt like a barrier had been removed.

My last semester really brought to light some inner trauma that needed to be healed and explored. That’s really what this blog is meant for…exploring ourselves without judgment; engaging more with our curiosity to discover more about who we really are and not being afraid to do so.

WHY IS WRITING + STORYTELLING SO IMPORTANT TO YOU?

It’s just like being hungry and finally getting fed. I think in some ways storytelling + writing provides us with experiences or feelings that we are subconsciously craving, but don’t know we need.

Stories create movement within ourselves. They make us ask questions that lead us to answers that aren’t saturated by others’ opinions because they come directly from how we experience the story.

When you think about it a story doesn’t ask you to do anything but listen. Then when it’s over, it’s yours. You make it whatever you want it to be. That kind of agency can really lead someone to an evolution of self.

So I think writing and storytelling are important because it allows us to connect with what we feel and believe in within ourselves.

As a writer, there are pieces of ourselves in every story we create. They’re all woven together from our reality. What really makes it magical is when others can find their pieces in that same story. Pieces they may have lost or hadn’t discovered yet. It’s like both the writer and the reader (or viewer) get to be seen by one another.

WHAT IN LIFE DO YOU VALUE MOST?

Family. Honestly. I’m very passionate about my relationships, especially with my family. Every family has its shortcomings or disagreements, but I’m truly blessed to have them. They’re like my tribe. They’re my foundation + my home. Every one of them has truly influenced who I am and who I’m becoming. Nobody truly knows me like them either, and I value that - that security and unconditional love.

Love also, I value love. I think it's one of the bravest things you can do for someone and one of the most selfless acts of giving.

HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN STORYTELLING + FILM?

In school, I always loved reading and writing. At first, I was really into math but that’s just because I thought solving problems was cool.

But reading is what made me feel something. I loved books. Then from there, it evolved into acting. Becoming the characters I read on paper, and feeling those same feelings but expressing them out loud.

I also really loved watching movies for as long as I could remember. Movies became familiar because it was something I shared closely with my family. We would pick out a movie almost every weekend and watch it together in the living room. That experience just always stuck with me. Tol this day my favorite thing to do with someone is going to the movies or staying up late watching movies at home.

But it wasn’t until college when I learned, “damn I can make these!” I can create my own stories, build my own characters, and put my own feelings and thoughts into a tangible experience for others to share. So I switched my major to DMP and started studying film more heavily and it just took off from there.

I think it was kind of meant to be. I always loved reading, writing, acting, and watching movies. Now here I am…you’ll see my projects soon don’t worry. (this blog was also made to force me out of my fear of sharing my work lol)

FAVE FILMS?

Damn. I know people are going to have their opinions but I don’t Kurrr.

Almost any black 90s film is my favorite film. That is a GENRE, a MOMENT, and a TIME, okay?!

Every time I watch them it feels like watching something revolutionary unfold because it was like watching black people be fully unapologetic about who they are for the first time in film. Watching that just gives me chills. It makes me wish I was a part of every story back then.

I just love the films that make me feel. And black 90s films give me all the feels. Most of them at least.

My all-time favorite film is…Love Jones. It’s just so authentic and rich. Plus I’m a sucker for black 90s romance.

FAVE MUSIC ARTIST?

BEYONCE…I mean yea. I have plenty of others, but she’s at the top for many reasons. I also love SZA, Jhene, Ari Lennox, Jorja Smith, Snoh, Alex Isley,…etc.

FAVE FOOD?

BREAKFAST AND BRUNCH! I love breakfast food…it makes me so happy. It just reminds me of Sunday mornings because my mom would always make breakfast Sunday mornings…most of the time.

DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?

It’s quite youthful I would say. But also kinda spicy and confident, in a relaxed way lol. (It’s sort of evolving into full on athleisure more and more)

WHO’S YOUR BIGGEST ROLE MODEL + WHY?

My mommmmmmmy! She is a BIG PART of the reason I am who I am today. She really showed me what strength looks like. She taught me what it means to be a black woman, and she also has the most giving heart I’ve ever known…I strive to be able to give that kind of unconditional love so freely.

WHAT ARE YOUR BIGGEST ASPIRATIONS?

Just to fulfill my purpose and live a life of pleasure and peace that feels most authentic to who I am.

— To become the highest version of myself & create ultimate fulfillment in every areaa of life. I also aspire to write, create and sharw stories that are authentic and true to myself. My hope is that they’ll have the power to change or shift the world a little.
